“Policy For Free or Discount Use of SALAM Facilities for Organizations”

(Approved by the Board of Trustees on Monday, March 6, 2006)

Free Use:

1. SALAM Event: When the function is organized by SALAM Members and is open to Members or Members and Non-members.

2. SALAM Co-sponsored Event: When the function is co-sponsored by SALAM together with other Muslim or non-Muslim organization(s). (SALAM provides the facilities and pay for the cost of setting up, cleaning & supervision while the other organization(s) pay all other expenses.)

3. SALAM Outreach Event: When the function is organized by the Interfaith Service Bureau since SALAM is an active participant in interfaith activities.

4. Public Forum: When the function is organized for a public forum for the benefits of the Muslim community or the community at large.

5. Press Conferences: Press Conferences dealing with Islam and the Muslim community

Discounted Use:

(The actual cost of setting up, cleaning, supervision and utilities shall be covered by the users of SALAM facilities. Insurance and all conditions in the rental agreement contract apply).

1. 75% Discount: When the function is organized by Islamic organizations or Masajids, (not co-sponsored by SALAM), with no registration fees and no fundraising activities, and is open to the Muslim community and/or the community at large for their benefits, 75% of the rent is discounted. For example, open exhibits, open lectures, open workshops, or open seminars.

2. 50% Discount: When the function is organized by Islamic organizations or Masajids, for the benefit of their own membership, with no registration fees and no fundraising, and is not open to the Muslim community or the community at large, 50% of the rent is discounted. For example, membership meetings for Islamic organizations.

3. 25% Discount: When the function is organized by Islamic organizations or Masajids with registration fees and/or for fundraising, 25% of the rent is discounted. For example, fundraising events, fee-based seminars, fee-based workshops, or fee-based classes.

4. 75% Student Discount: When the function is organized by an educational Islamic organization such as Muslim Students Associations in Universities or Colleges.

5. Member Discount: For members of SALAM as shown in the Rental Agreement.

(Cases that are not covered above shall be handled by the Administrative Committee as exceptions and shall be presented to the Board as soon as possible for possible inclusion as new policies if needed)
